Students should be prepared to get their hands really dirty. Excitement about interdisciplinary approaches to solve major problems in (gut) health would also be beneficial.
Students will learn techniques potentially including bacterial and mammalian cell flow cytometry, molecular biology of anaerobes, microfluidics, anaerobic bacterial culture, gnotobiology, indirect calorimetry and metabolite analysis.
