The Department

Founded in 2012, the Department of Health Sciences and Technology (D-HEST) is the youngest department at ETH Zurich. It has grown into one of the largest departments, with a diverse research and education portfolio centred on health sciences and technologies. D-HEST offers three full degree programmes:

Food Sciences and Nutrition (BSc, MSc)
Human Medicine (BSc)
Health Sciences and Technology (BSc, MSc)

In addition, D-HEST offers a wide range of programmes and courses in continuing education and public outreach. The department emphasizes interdisciplinarity, translation, entrepreneurship, and technological advancement across its activities, with the aim of addressing global needs in society, research, and industry.
