SNF PRIMA Fellowship for Katharina Gapp

Dr. Katharina Gapp, currently Junior Group Leader in the group of Prof. Johannes Bohacek at the ETH Zurich Institute for Neuroscience, receives a highly competitive SNF PRIMA Career development fellowship.

With only 18 out of 141 applications funded – a success rate of only 12% - PRIMA is one of the most competitive funding schemes in Switzerland. PRIMA is targeted to promote excellent women researchers, to counter the heavy underrepresentation of women at the professorial level across Swiss higher education institutions. The PRIMA funding grants Katharina the independence to lead her team for the next 4 years. Her project focuses on the role of transcription factors in epigenetic inheritance, with the goal to identify a new mechanism that allows environmental events to impact the offspring through molecular changes in male sperm cells. Interviewed by the SNSF Katharina said: "The PRIMA grant allows me to be a role model for my kids and other kids, showing them that women can have an inspiring career and a family as well."

Congratulations!
