ETH medal for nine doctoral theses at D-HEST

At the request of the department, the Rector of ETH Zurich awards a total of nine doctoral theses at D-HEST with the ETH medal. Congratulations!

The following doctoral students will be honored for their achievements:

  • Hamed Almohammadi - title of the thesis: "Control of Colloidal Self-Assembly by Liquid-Liquid Crystalline Phase Separation", carried out under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Raffaele Mezzenga, Institute of Food, Nutrition and Health
  • Jeroen Brus - title of the thesis: "Computational and causal role of resource limitations in decision making", carried out under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Rafael Polania, Institute of Human Movement Sciences and Sport
  • Nikola Grujic - title of the thesis: "Neurobehavioural causes and consequences of pupil-linked arousal", carried out under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Denis Burdakov, Institute for Neuroscience
  • Verena Lentsch - title of the thesis: "Elimination of enteropathogenic bacteria from the gut can be achieved by combining rationally designed oral vaccines with niche competition", carried out under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Emma Wetter Slack, Institute of Food, Nutrition and Health
  • Nima Mirkhani - title of the thesis: "Scalable magnetically enhanced transport mechanisms of living microrobots for cancer therapy", carried out under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Simone Schürle-Finke, Institute of Translational Medicine
  • Greta Preatoni - title of the thesis: "Engineering Multisensory Integration with the Development of a Methodological Framework and its Clinical Translation", carried out under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Stanisa Raspopovic, Institute of Robotics and Intelligent Systems
  • Riccardo Rizzo - title of the thesis: "Development and application of photosensitive bioresins for 3D biofabrication strategies: from volumetric printing to two-photon stereolithography", carried out under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Marcy Zenobi-Wong, Institute for Biomechanics
  • Rosa Visscher - title of the thesis: "Assisting Clinical Decision-Making for Paediatric Movement Disorders - Towards assessing the effectiveness of therapy in cerebral palsy through mapping of gait maturation", carried out under the supervision of Prof. Dr. William R. Taylor, Institute for Biomechanics
  • Jing Zhang - title of the thesis: "Angiocrine regulation of skeletal muscle homeostasis", carried out under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Katrien De Bock, Institute of Human Movement Sciences and Sport
