Bridging the worlds of ethics, technology, and communication, Dr. Joanna Sleigh's post-doctoral research investigates the development of digital tools to faciliate ethical deliberation and decision-making.
Dr. Sleigh's doctoral work at ETH Zurich focused on creating interactive visualizations of ethical frameworks for health data governance (see the Health Data Ethics Maps). Her research emphasized using information visualization to make complex ethical issues understandable and enhance responsible data use in health research.
Drawing on methods from media anthropology, visual studies, and digital methods, Joanna brings a uniquely interdisciplinary approach to her work. This is further reflected in her diverse collaborations, artworks, and projects that make technology ethics both accessible and engaging. Dr. Sleigh currently serves as communications director of the AI Ethics and Policy Network.
