Swiss Oncology Summer School

The 2026 edition of the Swiss Oncology Summer School successfully brought together 25 highly motivated medical students from across Switzerland and beyond for an immersive week of learning, collaboration, and discovery in the field of oncology.

Held in the unique setting of Gruyères, the Summer School offered participants a comprehensive journey through the continuum of cancer care, from basic research to clinical application. Guided by internationally renowned oncologists, researchers, and healthcare professionals, students explored the latest advances in cancer diagnosis, treatment, and translational research.

Each day focused on a different type of cancer, combining expert lectures with interactive case discussions, patient-centered perspectives, clinical insights, and laboratory activities. Working in multidisciplinary teams, students developed diagnostic and treatment strategies, discussed emerging research questions, and presented their ideas to peers and faculty.

Beyond the scientific programme, the Summer School fostered meaningful exchanges between students and faculty members, creating a unique environment for mentorship, networking, and professional development. The social activities and beautiful alpine surroundings further contributed to an unforgettable experience. 

The enthusiasm, curiosity, and commitment demonstrated by all participants reaffirm the importance of investing in the next generation of physicians and researchers. Another piece of the jigsaw in the ongoing effort to advance modern medical training and adapt it to current requirements. From the ETH Zürich project team in medicine, we are extremely proud to be playing a part in this.
