Regl. 2016: Bachelor's thesis
The Bachelor's Thesis is a scientific and independent paper. It represents the conclusion of the Bachelor study programme.
A lecturer of the Department of Health Sciences and Technology or of the Deprtment of Environmental Systems Science, area Agricultural Sciences, is responsible for the subject matter and supervision.

The Bachelor's thesis has to be registered in advance with the Study Secretariat who will submit it for approval to the Department Conference according to the Regulations of the Bachelor study programme.
For the registration, the Downloadregistration form (PDF, 77 KB)vertical_align_bottom (in German) has to be filled out, signed, and handed in by e-mail (PDF format) at the Study Secretariat.
Bachelor thesis part-time:
If the Bachelor's thesis is carried out part-time, a corresponding project plan must be submitted with the application. A template for the project plan is published under Documents
Students register the thesis electronically on myStudies once the form has been submitted. If a bachelor’s thesis is carried out across two semesters, the registration must be made in the semester in which the major part of the work is completed. The thesis has to be registered only once. The study administration office will confirm the registration after the DK has approved the master’s thesis.

- The duration of the Bachelor's thesis is 450 hours. The thesis can be completed part-time or full-time. If the work is done part-time, a project plan must be submitted in addition to the application form. A template can be downloaded under Documents.
- The Director of Studies can grant an extension of the planned duration of the project upon request if there are important reasons for doing so. The application must be submitted using the form provided. It can be found under Documents.
- 15 CP are acquired after successful completion of the thesis.
The topic of the thesis can be assigned at the beginning of the 5th semester. The work will be graded by the responsible professor and a co-supervisor. Students should contact professors directly for topics for Bachelor's and Master's Theses. Some of the professors list currently available theses projects on their websites.
Theses have to be submitted digitally as PDF.

The theses will be forwarded to the examiner and the co-examiner for evaluation by the student administration's office.
Notes:
- The paper must contain the task description.
- The work must include the signed declaration of originality.
- If sending by e-mail is not possible, please use the Polybox.
- Theses will not be archived by the student administration's office.
The Bachelor's thesis is an independently written work. It is compulsory for each student to sign a Declaration of Originality and to include it with the Bachelor's thesis. The Declaration of Originality must be bound into the work.

If the Bachelor's thesis is done abroad, travel and other costs can be requested by Bachelor's students with citizenship of Switzerland: Apply to the "Hochstrasser-Stiftung" for costs of travel, visa, vaccinations, and housing abroad.
